AMS 700™ Inflatable Penile Prosthesis
1. About the AMS 700 Inflatable Penile Prosthesis
The AMS 700 Inflatable Penile Prosthesis (IPP) is made up of three parts and contained inside the body, so it’s undetectable to others:
- A pair of cylinders implanted in the penis.
- A pump placed inside the scrotum.
- A reservoir of saline placed in the lower abdomen.
Squeezing and releasing the pump moves fluid into the cylinders, creating an erection for as long as a person wants. The device can be deflated by pressing the release button on the pump. The penis then returns to a soft, flaccid and natural-looking state.
2. About the TENACIO Pump
The TENACIO Pump is the latest innovation in the Boston Scientific IPP portfolio and was designed to deliver a more intuitive experience for patients and simplify training post-operation. The new features include:
- Prominent grips, an elongated pump neck and a high profile one-press release deflation button, designed to help patients identify the various pump components.
- Dedicated valve systems, each performing independent functions, intended to help address stiction syndrome, also known as sticky pump.
These features have the potential to maximize reliability across repeated use, achieve a streamlined inflation experience and offer patients an intuitive experience.
3. About Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition defined by an inability to achieve or maintain an erection that is firm enough to have sexual intercourse. ED happens when blood flow to the penis is limited or nerves are damaged. Men with ED may experience anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and decrease in quality of life. There is typically no single cause of ED, and it may happen for a range of physical and psychological reasons. Risk factors of ED include age, smoking, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, depression, obesity and a sedentary lifestyle.
