About Dr. Lovett

John W. Lovett, MD, is a board-certified urologist with decades of experience practicing at Urology Associates of Southeastern North Carolina in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Dr. Lovett attended Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina, for his bachelor’s degree. He completed medical school and his surgical internship at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington. He went on to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to complete his urology residency.

He has completed many advanced postgraduate courses in Greenlight™ laser photovaporization of the prostate (PVP), extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), lasers in urology, and performs bipolar cautery vaporization with plasma button, known as TURP.

In addition to Dr. Lovett’s education and training, he is a member of the American Urological Association, the Southeastern Section of the AUA, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the New Hanover-Pender County Medical Society, where he is a past president.

Dr. Lovett is on a never-ending quest for knowledge and prides himself on understanding many different aspects of urology. Some of his specific interests and urology experience include transurethral laser treatment, bipolar resection of obstructing prostate disorders, laparoscopic renal surgery, and helping to diagnose, counsel, and manage all forms of urinary stones and prostate cancer.

Another of Dr. Lovett’s areas of experience is restorative urology, which includes the surgical correction of female and male stress incontinence as well as erectile dysfunction.
